I just got back tonite from five days in San Diego with Melissa Schwartz of Organic Photographs, it's good to be home because I was starting to miss my cat :) but I had a blast while I was there.
I flew in Wednesday, and that night we went to the San Diego PUG meeting at Bauman Photography's studio where I met some new people and saw a bunch of girls I'd met this past April at WPPI in Vegas.
Thursday evening I tagged along with Melissa on an engagement shoot for Janice & Tom at Ocean Beach. They are such a fun couple, we all went to dinner afterwards where I was highly encouraged to have my first fish taco experience - Can't say anything bad about it, although the Tabasco sauce and margarita probably helped.
A few shots of Janice & Tom, who will be getting married this fall:

On Friday Melissa and I went to her brother's Pacific Beach home, where she stayed to edit the engagement photos while I wandered around the beach and went shopping - Bringing me to my favorite right-now thing: Jaqua Pink Buttercream Frosting hand cream that I found at Pangaea Outpost.

I probably wouldn't have even paid attention to it but the label caught my eye -- "with meadowfoam seed oil." Which almost never happens, so when it does I get way too excited.
Long story short, meadowfoam is a relatively new crop that my family grows and has been a big part of for a looong time, and my dad is the president of the OMG Meadowfoam Oil Seed Growers association - Which apparently means he gets to go on a lot of trips both domestic and abroad to pimp out meadowfoam.
Anyways back to the lotion, it smells sooo good in a non-healthy way, I've been in danger of eating my hands ever since I got it. And the woman at the store must have thought I was insane because I bought six bottles of it to bring back for my sisters, my mom and some friends. Then I realized I could have ordered it from home and saved the sales tax, but then they wouldn't be getting random presents tomorrow so what's the fun in that?
That night we had to make a Target run - which is normally bad enough because I can spend way too much money in there, but this Target was two stories - with a shopping cart escalator. Melissa can attest to the fact that I was completely amazed by this, apparently I need to get out more but that is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time!I took a few pictures of it with my point & shoot but they weren't great, probably because my hands were shaking from excitement, but here's a random one from Google images to describe my point:
Saturday we shot Mariela & Patrick's wedding at Casa Romantica in San Clemente, which is an awesome venue overlooking the ocean. Jasmine came to shoot with us too, it was so nice to get to meet her - she is so sweet and one of those people who makes you feel like you've known them forever within seconds. Here's a quick slideshow of the wedding:
Mariela spent a lot of time on the details and it showed - Her dress was awesome, I think it looks like frosting but maybe that's because that's all I can smell right now...
wow, she's cute!
nice pics too :)
She was such a cutie! This shoot was a great amount of fun, but most of them are. You have a cool job.... don't you need an assistant? ;)
Man alive, these are beautiful shots. The contrast is awesome!! Love the 1st pix... nice work
